At Little Helper Kate we understand how hard life can be when you are going through domestic abuse and how devastatingly hard recovery from it is . There are wonderful ways that we help those who have gone through this.
Women and children who have gone through this and have escaped; escape to refuges and safe houses. Here in the West Midlands there are quite a few refuges and safe houses. Due to the confidentiality of them, I cannot give an exact number. However, there is over 500 support services within England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. These support services can bring you into contact with a refuge or safe house. Places specific to the West midlands include Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid, Black Country Women’s Aid and Anawim Birmingham’s Centre for Women, but there are many more. If you need help, please see the end of this post for details.
Little Helper Kate’s team, which consists of highly trained women who are DBS checked before they start work, provide cleaning services to these refuges and safe houses. These are women helping women. We are training our staff, who clean refuges and safe houses, to be psychologically informed to manage and support those who have gone through domestic abuse. This allows for the women living in these spaces to feel safe knowing that our staff are highly vetted, and DBS checked but they can also feel comfortable knowing that our women understand.
Our job is to make sure that these women feel safe and clean in their temporary homes while they recover.
It is hard enough to deal with the recovery and what would be worse is to do it in an unclean or anxiety driven environment.
A lot of the women we employ a significant number of BAME women who have also gone through domestic abuse. Our wonderful women want to do what they can to support others like them. They care about the women and want to help empower them. By doing this we hope to build their confidence and self-esteem. We make sure our team leaders are women allowing them to network and hopefully get them to spread their wings.
We believe that helping women from disadvantaged backgrounds strengthens the community. By using our specialised cleaning service, we can bring these women together and build that community even more. At Little Helper Kate we ensure a discreet service is provided, we understand that people’s identities need to be protected.
We are well placed to supply professionals who are empathetic, personable and do a thorough job.
Not only do we offer cleaning services, but we also offer meal prep and furniture assembly services. These services are in place for those who are recovering from injuries or are struggling with their mental health. Cooking, cleaning and even getting places are extremely hard for those recovering from domestic abuse and we want to make sure these women stay healthy and looked after while they focus on themselves. We also provide driving services with our trusted employees so you can defeat that fear of going shopping or just out and about.
At Little Helper Kate we understand and want to create a clean and healthy space for those who are struggling. A healthy, clean environment promotes a quicker recovery, healthier mindsets and growth. According to the ADAA (The Anxiety and Depression Association of America) ‘the physical action of housekeeping and the end result of a cleaner home help relieve stress, anxiety and depression.’ That is what these wonderful refuges and safe houses allow for, to save the women who are stuck and need to escape. These places allow for them to find a place they can call home for not matter how long and is always clean.
