You would think that helping vulnerable people was a given. You would think that humanity would help humanity but that’s isn’t the case in most places. Little Helper Kate wants to change that. We are a West Midlands based company, and we are helping vulnerable women get back on their feet. We want to build a better place, a better community. Don’t you want that too?
As a business have you ever considered, and I mean really considered who you use for your services? You know, the cleaners? Or the caterers? Do you use local businesses? Do you support the community around you? I hope your answers to those questions are a yes. But if they are a no please let me explain where I am going with this.
At Little Helper Kate we pride ourselves on who we employ. We bring on people who are part of the BAME community, Eastern European, the disabled community and those who can relate to the people we work with. Those people are from disadvantaged backgrounds and have experienced Domestic Abuse in their lives. We as a business believe that these experiences improve us, they make our work the highest quality. One of our core values is inclusion and this is something we feel that businesses should have as well.
Our goal as a business is to empower local women who have lived experience of challenging domestic circumstances. We put these women in leadership roles enabling them to network, build confidence and establish themselves. We believe that there is a special grit that comes from those that have overcome challenging backgrounds which strengthens the local community.
Little Helper Kate is helping women with lived experience of domestic abuse. We provide leadership roles to help build confidence and establish themselves.
Part of our services is to go into refuges and safe houses to clean. The women in these places suffered domestic abuse and escaped from it. These women deserve a clean place to rest and recover so that they can take on what ever life throws at them next. We do that for them. We have women helping women in the best way possible.
Not only does this boost the cleanliness of the places but it also boosts our staff’s self-esteem. Knowing that they are doing good and helping those who, like some of them, have been through the same challenges boosts their own mental health. The Mental Health Foundation state that ‘evidence shows that helping others can also benefit our own mental health and wellbeing. For example, it can reduce stress as well as improve mood, self-esteem and happiness.’ All this leads to better lives and better quality of work. Therefore, we make sure that our clients, like you maybe, can trust us, respect our work and our core values because you can see the good, we can do.

Did you know that helping others can significantly boost your mental wellbeing?
It is important to help people. Think of it this way if our story doesn’t work. As an organisation you should consider the services you use as there are bigger social implications and benefits to using local businesses with a social conscience as it builds skills and quality of life in the local community. This will lead to more diversity within your business and could increase your customer footfall. Because the customers can see that you are doing good in your community and will want to support that themselves.
For example, say you are a recruitment agency and you employ our team to clean your offices or cater an event for your staff. By hiring us you have proven that you care about diversity, local community and what our core values are. Your clients and potential can see this, and you could get an increase in the diversity of your clients or at least an increase in general. This is what we want to see. Local businesses helping other local businesses like how our women help women.
